The refitting of Kuani
Hi all,
We here at Wing and Wing Sailing Adventures are excited to be blogging the refit of Kuani, our recently acquired 42 Cascade ketch, built in 1978, hull #092. The work has begun in the slip, with cleaning and inventory. This Memorial Day weekend we will be flushing the cooling system, replacing the heat exchanger zincs in the 80-hp Chrysler-Nissan main and troubleshooting the DC charging system. If those tasks are completed, we will be moving onto the holding tank and replacing the head. We intend to haul at the end of June to do a complete bottom job (including taking the iron keel down to bare metal and rebuilding the barrier coats with Interlux 2000, and replacing some through hull fittings), replacing the aft deck, repairing the toe rail, fabricating a stern pulpit and possibly remodeling the galley.
We are curious if anyone else has this vintage Cascade? The galley was built with the un-gimbaled stove on the beam, and I wonder if this is the case with other 42's.

Re: The refitting of Kuani
Hey
I keep my 42 on the Columbia river. During the summers I take it North. We will be leaving Friday for Glacier national park, for a 2 week backpacking trip. So I will be heading for Astoria around the 1st of August.
