Aluminum Toerail Question Empty Aluminum Toerail Question

Has anyone else experienced corrosion on their aluminum toerail? And if so, how did you fix it? We just purchased a 1982 Cascade 36', and the toerail has some corrosion and pitting. Because it's such a substantial piece of aluminum, the surveyor didn't seem worried about it, and it doesn't leak at all. We're thinking about resealing the deck edge of the toerail and re-bedding the stainless steel screws that are causing most of the corrosion. Would that fix it? Or is something more substantial in order?

Aluminum Toerail Question Empty Aluminum Toerail

Are your shrouds and backstays connected to the toerail or have you put chainplates on? It is hard to determine the need for rebedding without seeing the extent of corrosion. Certainly isolating contact between the aluminum and stainless will have benefits but does the amount of corrosion really require the work involved? Congrats on your Cascade.
