Cascade 36 Restoration
Restoring Hull # 28 .....nothing major.....just a decade of deferred maintenance
Question on grounding the 12 volts system.....original copper conductor is history.....anyone know
what the preferred grounding plan/design is? With a cast iron keel fastened to the hull with steel bolts, would like to restore grounding to original specs.

Ah, sure, might as well respond now, it's only, what, 3 years?
For grounding & bonding...and anything else electrical, you might want to refer to Nigel Calder's book on Electrical and Mechanical for Yacht Owners (or whatever it's titled). Original specs - if any for Cascades - may have been substandard for modern standards. Electrical systems sure have changed. My 36 had two pieces of #10 wire - red and brown - running under the sheer clamp the length of the boat, each one fused for 20 amps. Lights were tapped into that as was the radio. Probably not how it would be done nowadays though it worked, mostly.
